The class is named in memory of Mrs. Dorothy Adams who loved and mentored these ladies for several years. Visit one time and you will want to come back. We meet at 9:30 each Sunday morning in the Conference Room.

Wired Word
Our starting point is an event that was in this week’s news. We then relate it to relevant Scripture passages and discuss how those passages apply to everyday life.
Bethany United Methodist Church is looking to hire a permanent part time Worship Leader. The Worship Leader will be responsible for leading the 8:15 traditional service and the 10:45 contemporary service. The traditional service is primarily piano led worship from the Celebration Hymnal. The 10:45 contemporary service is led by the praise band made up of keyboard, guitars, bass, drums, and song specific instruments. We use contemporary lighting, audio, video and graphics that are blended with both services. The sanctuary has 250 seats and our average attendance is 140. We are located in the southern St Louis metropolitan area on the Illinois side just 20 minutes from downtown.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the music portion of two services (traditional and contemporary)
- Engaging the congregation in worship
- Rehearsing the band once a week
- Selecting the worship songs with the Pastor
- Scheduling and updating the band using Planning Center software
- Managing the music library
- Organizing special music
- Managing copyright issues with the music
- Other duties as assigned by the Pastor
A successful candidate should:
- Have strong vocal abilities
- Have strong music leadership skills
- Be well versed in worship music
- Be organized
- Be able to collaborate well with others
- Have previous experience leading contemporary worship
- Be able to train vocalists to sing parts
- Be able to advance the skills of an all volunteer band and vocal team
- Have computer skills
